Covid training update

While there are no changes to restrictions for training and activity in Canberra, Covid-19 cases continue to be transmitted across the country. There are some travel restrictions and quarantine requirements in place. We would like to remind our students to refrain from training if you are feeling unwell or have any symptoms and to seek medical advice regarding Covid testing. If you attend the dojang while you are unwell, you may be asked to leave.

Changes to club administration

In 2020 Pravin and his partner, Emma, welcomed a new addition to the Sangrok family. To help balance his family, work and taekwondo commitments, Pravin will be stepping back from the administration aspect of Sangrok Taekwondo. He will still be around to answer any of your questions about taekwondo skills and technique during and after classes, however, any queries or feedback relating to membership, payments, training, grading, events, and so on, should be directed to info@sangrok.net.au, or to Erin or Trip Sir at training.

Yearly insurance payments due

Our yearly insurance and Australian Taekwondo membership payments are due.  To reduce the financial impact on our students we have capped the cost at $30 per student with the remainder of the fee being covered by Sangrok.  Insurance and AT membership will be charged to accounts this month, depending on when your membership payment is due. Please speak to your instructor if you have any concerns, would like to know what date your payment will be deducted, or would like to split your insurance fees up over a number of payments.

Cancelling classes – Please read…

Over the last month we have had had a number of classes that are fully booked with a waiting list of up to 6 students. As you can appreciate it is very frustrating for both instructors and those students on the waiting list, when the majority of the booked students do not attend the class. Please ensure you cancel your booking via the portal if you will not be coming to class. You will receive an email the day before your class with a link to your portal and your pin number to help you with this process. If you have any questions or concerns, please talk to Erin. If you are unable to use the portal, or are trying to cancel for your whole family, please email info@sangrok.net.au.

Karate + TKD workshop

In January we hosted students from Cummings Karate Dojo for our first combined workshop. It was great to share our style and learn some new karate techniques. We hope to run further combined sessions in the future and would like to thank you to Sensei Reece and the CKD students!

Upcoming events

Our Autumn grading is tentatively scheduled for Saturday 27 March. We also hope to run a sparring workshop this term.

Housekeeping matters

Please ensure that you take home any training or sparring equipment at the end of this session. To enable our cleaner to ensure all our surfaces are properly cleaned and disinfected, we are no longer able to store personal equipment at the club.

We are still missing a few pieces of club equipment. We ask that all borrowed equipment please be returned by the end of this week.

Summer training

Please remember to keep well hydrated at training over the summer months. You may wear a tshirt (Sangrok branded, plain navy or plain white – please no singlets) to training from December to January.

We also have a private Sangrok Students Facebook group so you can keep up with all the latest news, share photos and chat with other members – this is also where we will advertise adhoc training sessions.
