COVID update

The ACT Government requires quarantine and testing for people who have been in Victoria or in known COVID-19 exposure sites in NSW. Please keep up to date on all quarantine and travel restrictions at www.covid19.act.gov.au.

If you are affected by this requirement, please ensure that you follow ACT Government requirements. We would like to remind all our students to remain vigilant and to not attend training if you are feeling unwell or have any COVID-19 symptoms. All our COVIDSafe policies are available on our website: https://www.sangrok.net.au/covid-training-information/

Please remember to always sign in to the club (even if you’re not planning to stay long) using the CheckInCBR QR code and to use the provided hand sanitiser on arrival and when leaving.

Beginner workshop

We are seeking expressions of interest for a beginner belt workshop (basic striking and blocking techniques, poomsae, grading preparation) to be held on either Friday 11th of June (afternoon/evening) or Sunday 13th of June. Please email info@sangrok.net.au if you are interested in attending this workshop as this will only go ahead if there are enough students interested.

Sparring workshop

Last weekend Darien ran a sparring workshop working on competition sparring rules and strategies. By all accounts it was a fun and informative session. Thank you Darien!

Sparring kits

We have put together two sparring equipment packs for students to purchase their own equipment. These can be purchased via our website (let us know if you need the password). We are offering these packs at a considerable discount, however, you are also welcome to purchase your own Kukkiwon approved protective wear. We highly recommend that all boys and men wear a protective groin guard while sparring. Other protective items (such as shin and forearm guards) may help to reduce injury and pain and make sparring more fun! Sparring equipment is needed for sparring classes for blue belts and above.

Arrival and warming up

Students are reminded of the importance of being on time to classes. Arriving late means that often students don’t participate in a full warm up. It is important that all students complete a thorough warm up prior to beginning the class to reduce the risk of injury. Late arrivals can also be disruptive to the class. If you are not on time to your class ensure that you begin warming up immediately and let your instructor know when you are ready to join the class.
