Sangrok proudly hosted Grandmaster Chang Seong Dong for a weekend of workshops at our Mitchell training dojang. As the Australian branch of Sangrok World Taekwondo Academy, Sabonim Pravin is under the direct tutelage of Grandmaster Chang and we were grateful to have the opportunity to train with him. On the 6th of April, 40 Sangrok students participated in our first grading of 2019. This was the first grading held since the new curriculum and grading format was implemented in January. Students were tested across all six of the core training areas; poomsae, fitness, board breaking, sparring, self defence as well as basic kicks, blocks, strikes and stances. Poomsae. What is it good for? It’s easy to think of poomsae as just a series of blocks and strikes we need to remember for grading, but it’s so much more than that. Poomsae is a way of teaching, learning and practising valuable self defence techniques.
