2021 has been another wild year for the world. We’re so grateful that we’ve had the opportunity to train with our Sangrok family this year. Here are just some of the good and bad from this year:

GOOD – No smoke or bushfires meaning we could train all summer with the windows open
BAD – Being woken up at 6am on a negative-something degree morning to be told that our dojang was flooding
GOOD – Cleaning and re-laying all the mats so they were fresh for training in 2021
BAD – Being tricked into spending most of your birthday re-laying the mats so they were fresh for training
GOOD – Darien running an awesome sparring workshop
GOOD – Pravin learning to count during planks
BAD – 3 months of lockdown
GOOD – Being able to train and catch up with everyone via Sangrok Zoom
GOOD – In-person and online training opportunities with other martial arts club
GOOD – Looking forward to another great year of training in 2022

Thank you to our instructors – Pravin, Darien, and Trip – who volunteer their time each week to running challenging classes, and to all our members who make training so much fun.

DECEMBER GRADING

Next weekend we will be holding 3 grading events
– White, yellow and blue belt grading – Saturday 11 December
– Red belt grading – Saturday 11 December
– Black belt grading – Sunday 12 December

Invitations have been sent to students eligible to grade, based on attendance and competency, and for red belts and above, completion of pre-grading assessment. If you didn’t receive an invitation and you think you are eligible for grading, please speak to Trip at grading, or email info@sangrok.net.au – sometimes we inadvertently miss people who should be invited

CLUB RENOVATIONS

We’re really excited to be upgrading our dojang over the Christmas shutdown!

If you would like to buy any mats so you can train at home, we will be selling our current stock of mats for $5 each!! If you would like to purchase some please email info@sangrok.net.au ASAP to secure as we will be offering these to the public as well. The mats will need to be picked up on/by the 20th of December

If you have any time to spare over the break we would love your help during our working bees! Please let us know (info@sangrok.net.au) if you have any time from the 20-24 of December to help out!

SUMMER TSHIRTS

While it doesn’t really feel like it, it’s officially summer which means you can wear a t-shirt to training if you prefer. If you choose to wear a t-shirt please ensure it:
– Is a Sangrok branded t-shirt available from our shop (cost price, there is no markup on these items) or a plain white or plain navy t-shirt
– Doesn’t have any words, logos or images
– Has sleeves – No singlets for hygiene reasons
– Worn with your normal dobok pants

If you don’t have a suitable t-shirt please wear your full dobok to training.

CHRISTMAS PARTY – POSTPONED

Due to ongoing Covid risks and our planned renovations over the Christmas break, we have decided to postpone the Christmas party until the new year.

CHRISTMAS NEW YEAR SHUTDOWN

Our last class of 2021 will be on Saturday 19 December (9.30am is the last class as we will then head to the Christmas party). After a short break for Christmas and New Years we will start training again on Monday 3 January. We hope you all have a safe and restful holiday break and we look forward to seeing you back on the mats in 2022!
