WORKSHOP SERIES
A number of workshops are being held to develop students’ skills in relation to the 6 core curriculum areas. These workshops have been planned throughout the year to support students before the gradings and encompass self defence, sparring and beginner skills. They are designed to add focus and support skills developed in class.

Introduction to Self Defence – The self defence workshop is open to students, family and friends and is on THIS friday, 1 March. Please register and get futher details here. Remember that the Self Defence workshop is open to non-students. Self Defence is a requirement of grading for adults blue belts and above, so is especially important if you are not familiar with these requirements.

Introduction to Sparring – this workshop is open to all belts, however it is important for all blue belts and above to attend this workshop. Sparring is a requirement of grading for blue belts and above, so is especially important to attend if you do not regularly attend sparring classes. Grading – Our first grading for 2019 is on the 6th of April. There have been a number of improvements this year based on our end of year review and your feedback from our survey. It is important that students and parents make themselves aware of these changes. More information is available in the student area.
The key changes are:
– Invitations to attend grading will now be sent, rather than students nominating themselves.
– Students who we believe are eligible (who have attended at least 10 classes, and will likely attend 20 by grading) will receive an email by Wednesday. If you do not receive an email and you believe you will meet the attendance requirements then please speak to Tripharn or Pravin.
– Grading will have staggered start times by belt level, with the higher belts first. This will ensure students are not waiting for long periods of time and also allows students to come early and watch the higher belts.
– Grading will be based on the new curriculum. This means the 6 core areas (fitness, basics, poomsae, breaking, sparring and self defence) may be assessed during grading. More details are available in the student content area. If you have any questions you should speak to Tripharn or Pravin ASAP.
– Please arrive at least 15 minutes early for your grading. Grading will begin at 11am. The 7:30, 8:30, and 9:30am classes will run as usual prior to the grading. The 10:30am class will not run.
– Further information will be provided in the coming weeks
