SELF DEFENCE WORKSHOP – CHANGE OF DATE
Last month we advertised a self defence workshop. The date of that workshop has been changed to Sunday 26 March from 2-5pm.
This workshop will focus on drills, theory, and poomsae application and will finish with pizza! This workshop is suitable for students over 13 years old and costs $10pp. Register via the website: https://www.sangrok.net.au/workshops/.
POOMSAE WORKSHOP – POSTPONED
The date for the upcoming poomsae workshop has also been changed. It will now be held in Term 2, however, if you would like some extra training with poomsae prior to grading, please email info@sangrok.net.au and we will see what we can do for you.
TRAINING FOCUS AND CURRICULUM
Our training focus for the remainder of the term is below. Please note the grading date. Grading is generally held between 11am and 3pm.
4 MAR – Self defence and fitness
11 MAR – Feedback
18 MAR – Poomsae and combinations/basics
25 MAR – Poomsae and step sparring
1 APR – Grading + instructor choice
We held our first feedback focus week recently – we value your feedback on this focus and welcome any recommendations for how we can improve. Please email us at info@sangrok.net.au.
DOJANG UPDATES
You might notice some changes around the dojang. We have purchased a defibrillator for the club. Although we hope to never use it, defibrillation followed a cardiac arrest increases the chance of survival to over 70%, compared to less than 5% without one (St John Ambulance Australia, n.d.). We have also divided the first aid supplies; one kit, for emergency use only, is located with the defibrillator and another kit for general use can be found in the next cupboard. The defibrillator, emergency first aid kit, and general first aid kit are all clearly marked. We will continue to upgrade signage over the coming weeks.
UNIFORM UPDATE
Sadly, summer has ended, although hopefully we still have some warm days left before we start getting cold feet on the mats. This means that we’re back to wearing full dobok (pants, V-neck dobok top, and belt) – t-shirts will come back for training next summer!
