Proposed new classes
We are seeking expressions of interest for new classes at Sangrok. If you are interested in any of the following classes, please email (info@sangrok.net.au) or talk to Erin. Your feedback will determine what, if any, new classes we run.
- Family training – 5.30pm Thursday – A class that mirrors our Monday and Wednesday family training classes. Suitable for families and all ages and ranks.
- Women’s training – Sunday, 2-3 classes per term – A class that focuses on taekwondo training from a female physiological perspective with an emphasis on training after pregnancy and childbirth, core strength, pelvic floor, and conditioning.
- Small group, individual-focused training – 11.30am Saturday – A number of students have expressed interest in private lessons to develop specific areas of interest. We will be trialling
– One on one private lessons, at a cost of $30 for 30 minutes
– Small group (max 4 students), at a cost of $15 per student for 1 hour
Please remember to talk to Erin at the club or email info@sangrok.net.au if you are interested in any of the proposed classes. If we don’t get interest in these classes, we won’t be running them.
September grading
It was a small but successful grading for Sangrok last weekend. Congratulations to all those who achieved new belts!
Pink Belt Project scholarship
The Pink Belt Project aims to:
– Remove the financial barrier to accessing the whole-of-life benefits associated with Taekwondo training for as many women as possible;
– Provide vulnerable women with usable self defence skills, a supportive club community, plus the personal benefits associated with Taekwondo training such as increased confidence and decreased anxiety;
– Promote the personal and cultural benefits of Taekwondo for women as a means for fighting to reduce violence against women.
Sangrok is once again offering a Pink Belt scholarship in Canberra and we would like your help to spread the word. If you know of someone who would benefit from a Pink Belt Scholarship, please ask them to contact the Sangrok Team so we can assist them to apply, or simply point them towards our application form – https://www.sangrok.net.au/pink-belt-scholarship/!
COVIDSafe update
Sangrok continues to operate under our COVIDSafe Return to Training plan. Compliance with this plan ensures that we are following relevant restrictions for the health and safety of our students. The plan includes information about:
– Maximum class sizes and pre-registration for classes
– Handwashing, hygiene, and cleaning expectations and commitments
– Arrival and departure procedures
It is great to see all our members enjoying their training, while also understanding the need for these restrictions. Thank you!
Cancelling classes
Class sizes at Sangrok are limited to 22 students. The reasons for this are two-fold and in the best interests of our students:
1) A limit of 22 students allows us to maintain appropriate social distancing in our classes
2) By having classes of no more than 22 students we can ensure that all our students are receiving quality, personalised instruction.
With this in mind, it is important to ensure that you are mindful of the classes you have registered for and that you cancel any classes that you won’t be attending, preferably at least 1 day beforehand.
Term 4 events
Sangrok will be holding a black belt grading on Sunday 25 October. Information will be sent to red and black belts soon.
We also hope to run a number of workshops throughout the term. If you have any ideas or requests for a workshop, please let us know and we’ll see what we can do!
Website update
Libby has been working hard to update our website. This is a work in progress, however, you will find many changes and new information in the Student Area -> Secure Online Learning Area section of the website. If you need the password, please just ask one of the team. If you have any ideas for content, please let us know.
