We hope you have all had a fun and restful summer break and are ready to get back into training for 2023.

TRAINING DATES

Classes for 2023 resume on Wednesday 4 January and will run as usual throughout January.

There will be no class on Thursday 26 January due to the public holiday.

TRAINING SCHEDULE

Our training schedule for Term 1 is provided below, however, this may change at any time. You will notice a new training focus – feedback. This training focus will allow students to receive specific, actionable feedback to improve their training. While this feedback is generally in the context of grading, if you are not intending to grade this training focus will be valuable for your overall taekwondo development. Feedback focus weeks will also be used for instructors to assess students for grading invitations.

You might notice that board breaking is no longer a focus week but don’t panic, we will still be doing breaking during the term!

HOT WEATHER TRAINING

Canberra has finally started to warm up! Please make sure you bring a labelled drink bottle with you to training.

From December to February students may wear a tshirt to training with your dobok pants (full uniform must be worn for grading and other events).

Our preference is that students wear a Sangrok tshirt available from our store. They are very modestly priced from around $20 (we don’t put any extra mark up on these items to keep prices as low as possible). Sangrok acknowledges that families are under many pressures and as a result also allow:

  • A PLAIN white tshirt – with no writing, logos, or images
  • A PLAIN navy tshirt – with no writing, logos, or images

We ask that you respect our dojang by ensuring that the tshirt that you wear complies with the above requests – logos, images, text, or tshirts in other colours are not appropriate. If you don’t have a tshirt that is suitable, you can still wear your dobok to any of our classes.

SANGROK AWARDS

It was very difficult to select the recipients for our annual Sangrok awards as there were so many worthy nominees. Congratulations to the 2022 awardees:

Student of the year (senior): Dennyse
Student of the year (junior): Chase
Most improved: Andrew
Student choice: Raeland
Master Chang award: Darien

EQUIPMENT SALE

We have upgraded some of our training equipment and we will be selling our black double kicking paddles for just $5 each – this might make a nice Christmas gift and would be a great training tool for over the break. If you would like to purchase, please just let us know via email and we will reserve one for you!

SOCIAL MEDIA

Follow us on social media: InstagramFacebook, and our private Sangrok Students Facebook group, where you can chat about training, ask questions, post memes about Master Pravin’s “easy training”, and share photos – this is also where we will advertise informal training sessions!
