Please wear your full dobok to training – Now that Autumn has arrived please ensure that you are wearing your full dobok (uniform), including belt, to each training session.
Our uniform consists of white dobok pants, white long sleeve v-neck dobok top and belt. Please note, tshirts are only worn with our uniform from December to February, however, we’d love you to keep wearing your Sangrok t-shirts out and about in Canberra. The image below shows a white taekwondo dobok with belt.
Term 1 events – We have a busy term coming up at Sangrok. Please keep an eye on your emails and facebook for more information or ask your instructor:
29 March – Beginner workshop
4 April – Grading
TBA – Instructor training
Timetable changes – We have made some small changes to our timetable for 2020. All our students are welcome to attend any of our classes. Our 5.30pm classes on Mondays and Wednesdays are more focused towards beginning students and taekwondo basics. Our 6.30pm classes are focused on more intermediate techniques for higher belts, however, students of any belt ranks are welcome to attend.
Changes to grading eligibility – Grading at Sangrok is by invitation only. Grading eligibility is based on student competency across all six core training areas of our curriculum (https://www.sangrok.net.au/home/secure-content/) and attendance at classes.
For our students who are grading to red belt and above we have introduced a pre-grading assessment checklist. You will need to have this checklist signed off by an instructor (Pravin or Trip) prior to being invited to being invited to grading. This is to ensure that all students are prepared for more intense grading requirements at the higher belt levels. If you have any questions chat to your instructor.
Are you getting emails from Sangrok? – Please check that you’re receiving emails from info@sangrok.net.au – you might need to check your junk folder and add info@sangrok.net.au to your safe sender list. We regularly send emails with information about training and events to our members and would hate for you to miss this information.
No training on public holidays – Sangrok isn’t open on public holidays, however, training is on as usual on the Saturday of long weekends. Therefore, there will be no training on the following dates:
9 March – Canberra Day
13 April – Easter Monday
27 April – ANZAC Day
Training while you are sick – Sangrok would like to remind students that you should refrain from attending training while you are sick to avoid spreading illnesses among our members. If you are unwell you’re welcome to attend a make-up class anytime during the following week or you can contact a member from the Sangrok team to arrange a make-up class at another time.
Senior belt training workshop – On Sunday 23 February Sangrok held its first senior belt workshop. The 2 hour workshop focused on advanced kicking drills, sparring technique and poomsae and was designed to ensure the continued improvement and development of our senior belts. We look forward to running another one in term 2.
