We have a busy end to 2023 at Sangrok.  Our annual black belt grading was held at the end of October, with our last colour belt grading coming up soon in December. We also have our end of year party and awards this weekend! As it gets warmer, please remember to bring a drink bottle to training. T-shirts are allowed at training from December (see below more details).

BLACK BELT GRADING

At the end of October we held our annual black belt grading. The black belt grading runs for 6+ hours and covers all aspects of our curriculum. 11 students participated and we are proud to announce that the following students were successful in achieving their black belts:
Cho dan bo: Ashley, Maddie
1st dan: Dee, Xander, Laura, Louis, Prashanth, Khushi
3rd dan: Matt Teki, Libby Teki, Erin Barry

END OF YEAR PARTY AND AWARDS

Our end of year party will be held on at 1pm on Sunday 19 November at Franklin Recreational Playground. Any last minute RSVPs please email info@sangrok before COB Thursday.

DECEMBER GRADING

Our final grading for 2023 will be held on 9 December from 10.30am. Invitations will be sent this weekend. Red belt students are reminded to complete their pregrading assessment to be considered for grading. Please note, due to the tight timeframes for organising this grading, registrations will be due by Friday 24 November.

HOLIDAY TRAINING DATES

Our last day of training for 2023 will be Thursday 21 December and we will be back on the mats from Wednesday 3 January. Just a reminder that due to our fee structure, payments will continue over this short break.

SUMMER T-SHIRTS

T-shirts can be worn for training (not grading) from December to February. Please only wear a plain white or plain navy tshirt or Sangrok tshirt.

Sangrok shirts can be purchased (at cost price) from https://sangrokaustralia.secure-decoration.com/. Please allow about 3 weeks for delivery.

CUPBOARDS AND SUPPLIES

The cupboards and storage areas at Sangrok should only be accessed by instructors. We have some complex medical equipment on site and also need to keep track of our first aid inventory. If you need equipment or first aid supplies, please ask an instructor. Please also refrain from taking lollies or food from the Sangrok cupboards; we do have a small stash of food in the event that someone becomes unwell, however, for hygiene, allergies, and stock control reasons, please do not help yourself or offer to other students.

TRAINING FOCUS

18 NOV – Sparring
25 NOV – Step sparring and conditioning/games
2 DEC – Self defence and fitness
9 DEC – Grading + instructor choice for the remainder of the year

SIGNING IN

Please remember to sign in for each class using the iPad at the table. If you’re unsure how to sign in, check with an instructor or a classmate.  Signing in is important for a number of reasons:

  • The first step in assessing grading eligibility is class attendance. Without signing in, you won’t receive an invitation for grading as our system marks you as ineligible for grading. Given the amount of extra work that chasing up attendance puts on our team of volunteers, we will no longer be following up when students may be attending but not signing in – grading invitations simply won’t be sent to students not signing in.
  • You may not be insured if you don’t sign into classes.
  • The data from class attendance helps us to analyse where we can make changes to our training schedule.

SOCIALS

Follow us on social media: InstagramFacebook, and our private Sangrok Students Facebook group, where you can chat about training, ask questions, post memes about Master Pravin’s “easy training”, and share photos – this is also where we will advertise informal training sessions!
