The weather has started to warm up which means that it’s getting warmer in the dojang too. It is important to keep hydrated while training so please remember to bring a labelled drink bottle with you to training. If it makes it easier for you, you are welcome to leave your drink bottle in the dojang. In the interests of sustainability we will no longer have a supply of disposable cups available for people who forget their drink bottle. While we appreciate that it is getting warmer, please ensure you wear your dobok/full uniform to training.

We have a very happy announcement to share with the Sangrok family. Pravin, his partner Emma, Aayush, Amelia and Oliver welcomed baby Willow-Rose on Tuesday 19 September. Congratulations to Pravin and Emma.

NO TRAINING MONDAY 2 OCTOBER – PUBLIC HOLIDAY

SEPTEMBER GRADING

SELF DEFENCE WORKSHOPS

We will be holding 2 self defence workshops in Term 4. The first will be a basics workshop, going through general self defence principles and techniques in detail; the second will build on the skills gained in the beginners self defence workshop and in our general self defence training, incorporating more realism into the scenarios.

The basics workshop will be held on Sunday 15 October (full details soon) the date for the intermediate workshop will be announced soon. The workshop is free for Sangrok students. Family and friends are welcome to attend at a cost of $20 per person (if they chose to sign up for a trial, the cost of the workshop will be credited).

SIGNING IN

Please remember to sign in for each class using the iPad at the table. If you’re unsure how to sign in, check with an instructor or a classmate.  Signing in is important for a number of reasons:

  • The first step in assessing grading eligibility is class attendance. Without signing in, you won’t receive an invitation for grading as our system marks you as ineligible for grading. Given the amount of extra work that chasing up attendance puts on our team of volunteers, we will no longer be following up when students may be attending but not signing in – grading invitations simply won’t be sent to students not signing in.
  • You may not be insured if you don’t sign into classes.
  • The data from class attendance helps us to analyse where we can make changes to our training schedule.

REGISTERING FOR CLASSES

We have experienced some large classes of up to 30 students recently. We have a class registration system to ensure that classes are limited to 22-24 students. This means that we can continue to provide high quality, safe training for all our members. Please register for all classes prior to attendance (if you need for portal details re-sent, please just send us an email). If you don’t register for classes, you may be unable to sign in, and the training will not count towards grading.

If a class is full, please let us know by email and we can usually fit you in!

SOCIAL MEDIA

Follow us on social media: InstagramFacebook, and our private Sangrok Students Facebook group, where you can chat about training, ask questions, post memes about Master Pravin’s “easy training”, and share photos – this is also where we will advertise informal training sessions!
